Psalm 67 | Prayer for mercy, blessing, and light

July 23rd, 2024

Psalm 67 is a prayer for Yahweh's mercy, blessing, and light. It has some similarities to the Aaronic blessing in Numbers 6:24-26, particularly verse 1. This Psalm is a song written to "the choirmaster" and meant to be played with stringed instruments. One wonders what melody was played for this song...

We pray you are blessed and encouraged by this reading from Psalms 67.

1 Yahweh be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause His face to shine upon us; Selah.
2 That Thy way may be known upon earth, Thy saving health among all nations.
3 Let the people praise Thee, O Elohim; let all the people praise Thee.
4 O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for Thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.
5 Let the people praise Thee, O Elohim; let all the people praise thee.
6 Then shall the earth yield her increase; and Elohim, even our own Elohim, shall bless us.
7 Elohim shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear Him.
